Second Ward High School National Alumni Foundation Scholarship Program
For several years, the SWHS Foundation has awarded scholarships. The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students enrolled in a four-year college pursing a degree. The application process is straightforward: candidates need to complete the application form, write a 300-500 word essay detailing their goals and aspirations, submit two letters of recommendation, and provide their transcripts.
Applications for the 2026 Scholarship round are currently being accepted and must be submitted by May 28, 2026.
Before You Apply
This year applications must be submitted online. The application must be completed in one sitting, you will not be able to save and return to it at a later time.
There are several items applicants will need to have ready before applying:
Essay:
Applicants must provide a 300-500 word essay describing their goals and aspirations.
Letters of Recommendations
Applicants must provide two (2) signed letters of recommendation completed by a high school or college counselor, advisor, or a work supervisor. Letter of Recommendations must be manually signed (wet signature, no electronic signature) on organization or company letterhead.
Transcript(s)
Applicants must provide an official transcript(s) of grades (including grading scale), through 1st semester of senior year (junior year only transcripts will not accepted).
List of Activities, Awards, and Honors
Applicants must list or provide a resume that details any activities, awards, and/or honors you have participated in or achieved in your high school career.
